In late 2015, I was fortunate to be recruited by talkSPORT, a leading national radio station in the UK, to spearhead the development of their MMA coverage.

 

Recognising the burgeoning popularity of the sport, talkSPORT sought to capitalise on this trend by establishing a dedicated platform for their audience.

 

Prior to my involvement, talkSPORT had not covered MMA. I was tasked with crafting a comprehensive strategy to launch their coverage, ensuring it resonated with their existing fanbase while attracting new listeners interested in the sport. This involved creating and developing a consistent schedule of fresh, engaging daily news articles, providing talkSPORT's listeners with the latest developments and insights into the world of MMA. This content ran for approximately six months.

The success of my work at talkSPORT did not go unnoticed. Due to News Corp UK's ownership structure, which encompasses both talkSPORT and The Sun newspaper, my expertise was sought after by The Sun's editorial team. This presented a unique opportunity to broaden my reach and further establish myself within the MMA journalism landscape.

 

At The Sun, I was entrusted with creating compelling content that captivated a vast national readership. This included covering the latter stages of Conor McGregor's meteoric rise, a period of immense interest for the sport. The highly anticipated bout between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather was a major focus, alongside numerous other high-profile UFC cards and main events.

For nearly a year, I worked in this fast-paced environment, consistently generating fresh, informative, and engaging content for both talkSPORT and The Sun. This experience solidified my ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure and meet the strict deadlines of major media outlets.
